I am planning a trip to san francisco in late feb. I was thinking about staying in union square. Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels in union square. What should I except for weather in the last week of feb. What are some must see things to see and do? Any good restaurant suggestions? Is there any area of SF that I should avoid due to bad area? Thanks for all your help.

Stay at the westin market street san francisco. its absolutely fabulous! great sites: pier 39, golden gate park, castro, china town nobody hill, coit tower, fishermans wharf, downtown, golden gate bridge, take a little ferry ride to the old prison island, take a ride on the cable cars, stop at lombard st (the most crooked road in the world) but in my opinion, fishermans wharf is the place to be. great night life.

Well, it seems people all suddenly rush to SF in February, lol I just answered about weather in another post.

Feb is basically the end of winter and rainy season in SF. In some years, winter rains still extend into Feb and Mar, so beprepared for that. Find the detailed climate info from about.

Casual dress will work most everywhere, especially for visiting to the Union Square, a extremely popular and fantastic place for shopping and theaters. And don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes. You know what that means to all-day shopping.

Some great hotels located on the better outskirts of this area and they cost accordingly more. You can choose from:

Sir Francis Drake Hotel (a historic hotel in the center of Union Square shopping)
Grand Hyatt
Handlery Hotel
Grosvenor Suites
San Francisco Hilton
Hotel California
Hotel Monaco
Orchard Hotel
Westin St Francis
San Francico Marriott – Union Square
Chancellor Hotel
Hotel Beresford & Arms
Hotel Frank
Hotel Nikko (a Japanese style hotel)

SF is one of the cities comprising the San Francisco Bay Area. Located in the state of California, it is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east, the Redwood Forests to the North and the Californian Desert to the South. SF’s unique climate, scenic marvel, awe-inspiring architecture, and ethnic and cultural diversity are the key drivers of the growth of tourism in this bustling city.
